The Conqueror Movement presented its third annual networking experience, Falling in Love With Your Passion in a huge way – three days with the same transparent feel everyone has come to love.
The three day event kicked off with a deep discussion on Black Masculinity, where we featured a number of local artists, activists, and fellow members of the Conqueror Movement team to share their thoughts on topics inspired by our recent documentary series: What is Masculinity?
The next day, our beloved annual networking mixer returned to the Redux Contemporary Art Center and welcomed special guest vendors, and our guest influencer, Shaquille Fontenot. (Our second influencer, Nebulon Xross, was not able to make the event, but still had encouraging words for our audience. A full video will be uploaded to our Youtube page!)
We also welcomed special guest chef, Marcus Middleton, who made everyone feel at home with his delicious contributions.
Day three ended with a phenomenal finale – our Billion Dollar Brunch. Inspired by the billion dollar milestone achieved by Jay-Z, and the out of this world combination of phenomenal cuisine and creative insight from our guest chef of the day, Deljuan Murphy, and Charleston’s creative collective, IllVibeTheTribe.
During our brunch, Deljuan curated several different types of cuisine inspired by different cultures such as our beloved Lowcountry cuisine, Carribbean, African and French cuisine. Asiah Mae, and Sabrina Hyman of IllVibeTheTribe led insightful discussions on owning your creative power and breaking generational curses, as well as becoming confident in your own light.
There are so many people we have to thank for making this first of its kind event layout possible. Thank you to CharlestonGOOD and Redux Contemporary Art Center for providing us with the spaces to make these events possible. Thank you to The Reach TV for their awesome coverage of the weekend events. Thank you to DJ Scrib But I’m Not A Critic Though and Cre Speaks Media for curating the vibes for the official mixer. To our guest chefs, Marcus Middleton and Deljuan Murphy.
